Dr. Dre’s Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre has been certified gold, according to a press release from the RIAA. Released in August, the project was certified gold October 13 and announced today (November 11).

“THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER DR.DRE,” Kendrick Lamar wrote on Twitter August 6, the day Compton was released. The TDE rapper appears on Compton cuts “Genocide,” “Darkside/Gone” and “Deep Water.”

Eminem, who appears on Compton selection “Medicine Man,” also tweeted about the album.

“Big day for music today,” the Detroit rapper wrote August 7. “DrDre did it again with #Compton! More than honored to play my part: http://smarturl.it/Compton.”

Dr. Dre’s first album, 1992’s The Chronic, was certified platinum November 1993 per the RIAA website. The Compton, California rapper-producer’s second studio project, 2001, was released in 1999 and was certified six-times platinum November 2000.

His best-selling single is 2011’s “I Need A Doctor,” which features Eminem and Skylar Grey and was certified double platinum in 2011.
