The Compton Unified School District announced that the pioneering producer and founding N.W.A member, would help financially support the project Thursday, and Dre confirmed the news via a statement.

“My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” Dre said. “The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.”

Dre and Jimmy Iovine also pledged $70 million to establish the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation in 2013.
